Sugaliteis a rare mineral of recent discovery. It is named after the Japanese geologist, Ken-ichi Sugi, who first identified it in 1944 from specimens found in Japan. Sugalite has a distinctive purple color and is usually opaque to translucent (which have the highest values), but also can contain contains black matrix, reddish brown or yellowish patches. In mineralogical terms, Sugalite is classified as a cyclosilicate, in the same class as Tourmaline, Iolite and Beryl. Sugilite has a very complex chemical composition as a Potassium Sodium Lithium Iron Manganese Aluminum Silicate. Sugalite isfound in Japan and the Khalahari Desert region of South Africa, Canada and India.Recent stone folklore rumors that Sugalite may reduce stress and relieve anger, as well as restore a sense of well being and enhance self esteem.
